Education & Training

Lavern Mason-Howard serves on CASONY’s Board of Directors.

With over 15 years of experience in the field of non-profit educational services, she currently serves as Director of Training and Employee Engagement for one of NYC’s largest non-profit providers of after school and summer camp programs. These programs serve almost 40,000 K-12 students in over 100 sites.

Ms. Mason-Howard’s responsibilities also include developing training programs for over 1,500 employees, maintaining systems to track training records and working to create individual plans to address areas in need of improvement.

Additionally, she is a Certified American Health and Safety CPR and First Aid Instructor, and an Advisor and Endorser for school age professionals enrolled in the SAC course. A successful grant writer, in 2017 she was awarded a $1.6 million DYCD Beacon Program contract. Ms. Mason-Howard holds a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership and Technology from Adelphi University. She has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Adelphi University, where she taught a graduate level course in Classroom Assessment.
