Michelle Hernandez serves on CASONY’s Board of Directors. As Assistant Vice President of Communications, Marketing and External Affairs in the Office of Public Affairs at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), she provides strategic vision and direction for public and external affairs, while guiding outreach to enhance the visibility and reputation of the College.

Dr. Hernandez is a valued strategic partner to BMCC leadership, faculty and staff and helps drive awareness of BMCC among diverse local, regional and national audiences of prospective students, academic peers and business community partners.

In this role, Dr. Hernandez leads marketing and communications efforts in support of the College’s degree programs, departments and centers, and works to further the BMCC mission, strategic plan and brand position. She also serves as a trusted advisor to the Office of the President in managing executive and crisis communications.

Dr. Hernandez holds a Doctor of Professional Studies (DPS) in Business, with a concentration in marketing from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. She earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Long Island University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Sociology from Rutgers University. Raised in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Hernandez is a first-generation U.S. citizen of Trinidadian descent.
